An international team of scientists led by Italian big data engineer Alberto Gerli has developed a predictive model that calculates the number of people infected with Covid-19.
The study indicates that it is enough to have 17 days of data and a parameter on the effectiveness of lockdown to determine the extent of the spread of the infection.
We contributed to the study by creating the website www.predictcovid19.com.
The front-end, developed in php and html, allows data entry while an API invokes a series of scripts made in Python.
The open source NumPy library provided us with the advanced mathematical functions to process the data, the SciPy library the tools for the algorithm that generates the graphs.
